Capt Amarinder asks Dasuya voters to remind Akali-BJP of betrayal, failed promises

DASUYA (JALLANDHAR), June 30: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today asked the voters of Dasuya to remind the Akali-BJP alliance of the failed promises and the betrayal with people of Punjab.
Addressing a public meeting in support of the party candidate for the byelection, Arun Mickey Dogra  here today, Capt Amarinder dispelled the notion that the byelections were inconsequential. "The outcome may not have any bearing on the survival of the government, but you can convey a firm message to the government that it has failed and betrayed you", he told the voters.

The PCC President pointed out, the alliance had promised round the clock electricity to people, but has not been providing even for 8 hours. He asked, "what happened to that promise". Moreover, he added, the power projects they were claiming to be setting up in Punjab had no commitment towards the state. He said, the state government was facilitating land acquisition for them without any benefit to the state.

He also referred to the problem of water in the kandi belt. He said, people were not getting drinking water even in this area.

Asserting that this government had miserably failed, Capt Amarinder asked, what happened to the promise of unemployment allowance to the 47 lakh unemployed youth? He pointed out, in the recent budget they had gone back all the promises they had made in the manifesto before the elections.

Referring to the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal’s claims in the assembly that there were no vendetta cases he remarked,"it is so easy to deny it in the house, but the matter of the fact is that they have been and they continue to resort to vendetta by registering false cases and victimising the Congress workers".

He pointed out, only recently an Akali worker shot dead a youth while injuring 2 others after grabbing their land near Mukerian.

Making a fervent appeal to the people to vote for the Congress, he said, "make them (the Akali-BJP alliance) realise that you are really not happy with the government as not only has it failed on its promises, but also failed to maintain law and order". He said, what happened in Punjab after election results or during the Municipal Corporation elections was for everybody to see.

Speaking on the occasion, the Congress Legislative Party leader said, the Akali-BJP alliance was trapped in its own contradictions and the two alliance partners were keen to run down each other. He said, this was going to help the Congress.

Jakhar said, this government was neck deep in corruption with two of its ministers already removed on corruption charges while third one Gulzar Singh Ranike waiting to go after his PA was found to had embezzled Rs 1.5 crores meant for shagun of the poor girls.

He expressed confidence that the Congress was certain to win this election and announced that all the party MLAs will camp and campaign here till the election day.

Expressing his gratitude to the party for reposing trust in him, Arun Dogra promised to work hard and win the election for the party.
