DASUYA (JALLANDHAR), June 30: Hansraj Jossan, Lali Majithia and Naresh Puri today joined the Congress in presence of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh, Congress Legislative Party Leader Sunil Jakhar and other senior leaders of the party at a public rally here today.Welcoming them into the party fold, PCC President said, their homecoming will strengthen the party as they hold lot of influence in their respective areas. He said, these leaders had contested the elections independently as they felt that they deserved the party nomination. He said, taking into consideration the public support the party decided to induct them back.Giving details, Capt Amarinder said, Jossan who contested against Sukhbir Badal from Jalalabad constituency got over 31,000 votes while Lali Majithia and Naresh Puri got 27,000 each. Lali Majithia contested againt Bikram Singh Majithia from Majithia assembly segment.
Talking to reporters about their rejoining the party, they said, they had contested independently to register their protest and make a point that they had been unjustifiedly denied the tickets. They said, they were feeling relieved after their homecoming.
Earlier, independent MLA from Mukerian Rajneesh Bubby also joined the Congress. Capt Amarinder announced that some more leaders will be rejoining the party in coming days.
