— Police Inspector Balwinder Kaur placed under suspension—
Chandigarh/Jalandhar, 31 August 2012 (BharatSandesh News):– The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked Inspector General, Zonal Jalandhar Mrs. Gurpreet Deo to conduct a thorough inquiry in the circumstances leading to the unfortunate suicide of a young girl Shivali, the BA student of Prem Chand Markanda SD College, Jalandhar.
It may be added that it has been pointed out in media that Shivali committed suicide after being hounded by overzealous cops on a naka led by Inspector Balwinder Kaur, who had allegedly humiliated the young girl in the full glare of media. The IG has been asked to submit complete report within three days so that deterrent action could be taken against guilty.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary Home Mr. D.S. Bains after receipt of preliminary report of the incident has placed Inspector Balwinder Kaur under suspension with immediate effect.
