Punjab all set to hold Progressive Agriculture Summit-2014

Chandigarh, 23 Jan 2014 (BharatSandesh Bureau):– The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal approved the program and plan of ‘Progressive Punjab Agriculture Summit -2014’ being organized by the state government from February 16 to 19 at Chappar Chiri (Mohali).

The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting held here at his resident late last evening with the top brass of the state administration to review the arrangements of this forthcoming mega agricultural event of national level being held for the first time in the history of the Punjab.

Mr. Badal said that the main aim of this Summit was to find out the ways and means to boost the Agro-economy of the state to elicit maximum participation of renowned agriculturists, agri-experts and progressive farmers from across the globe. He said that this Summit would help the farmers to update their knowledge from the lively discussions and interaction with the agri-experts during various technical sessions.  The Chief Minister also dwelled on the technical aspects recently introduced in the agricultural sector through live demonstration exhibition and Cattle Farm stalls etc. to be exhibited over an area of about 100 acres during this summit.

The Chief Minister also approved the site plan of main function, exhibition and seminar halls for technical sessions, besides stages for different cultural events. Mr. Badal also reviewed the Media plan prepared by the Information & Public Relations Department and directed to implement it in an effective manner to aware the entire peasantry especially the Punjabi farmers. He also asked the Technical Committee already in action under the chairmanship of Punjab Farmers Commission Dr. GS Kalkat to work out the modalities to finalization various Technical sessions. The Chief Minister was apprised in the meeting that teams from Canada, US, Holland, Italy, Israel, Taiwan are expected to participate in the summit and all the appropriate arrangements for the stay of guests from abroad and other states had been made.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Chairman Punjab State Farmer’s Commission Dr. GS Kalkat, Advisor to CM on National Affairs & Media Mr. Harcharan Bains, FCD Mr. Suresh Kumar, Financial Commissioner Animal Husbandry Mr. G Vajralingam, Principal Secretary to CM and Financial Commissioner Co-operation Mr. SK Sandhu and Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Gaggandip Singh Brar, besides senior officers of the state government.
