National Training inaugurated at GADVASU

Ludhiana- Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology at GADVASU, Ludhiana is organizing a 24th national level advanced training course on “Computerized Radiography and Interventional Diagnostic and Surgical Procedures for Veterinary Patients” under the aegis of Center of Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT), ICAR. The Centre of Advanced Studies was established in the department in the year 1994. In 2009 the centre was renamed as Centre of Advanced Faculty Training by the ICAR. Till date the department has conducted 23 advanced training courses on various topics and over 280 Surgeons/Clinicians from various State Veterinary Universities/ State Agricultural Universities/ICAR Institutes have been trained.
1.    Dr N.S. Saini, Director CAFT and Professor-cum-Head of the Department informed that for this training course a total of 29 applications were received from all over India. Twenty scientists / teachers from 10 states are attending this training course. Hands on training will be provided to the participants on the latest techniques in veterinary practice like computerized radiography, ultrasonographic and ultrasound guided biopsy procedures for small and large animal patients, diagnosis and surgical management of reticular diaphragmatic hernia in cows and buffaloes, Interlocking nailing in small and large animal fracture patients, bone plating in small and large animals, surgery of persistent right aortic arch in dogs, laparoscopy, urolithiasis in dogs and cattle. Lectures on various surgical and diagnostic techniques will be organized. The faculty members and experts from other state universities such as Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University(TANUVAS) Chennai, Govind Ballabh Pant University Of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) Pantnagar, Sher-E-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST) J & K and a leading radiologist from Ludhiana have been invited to deliver lectures and practical demonstration during the training programme.
Dr. S.P.S. Sangha, Director Student Welfare, GADVASU, acted as chief guest and inaugurated training programme. Dr. Sangha congratulated the faculty members for organizing big event and encouraged the faculty for the excellent work being done in the fields of veterinary surgery and radiology.
Dr S.S. Randhawa, who is Coordinator of advanced training course, Director of Research and Dean Postgraduate Research, who was in the inaugural function as Guest of Honour informed that the University will soon have a separate International guest house for scientists / teachers.
Dr J. Mohindroo Associate Professor Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, informed that a compendium of lectures and presentations by the experts will be compiled for the ready reference of the participants. In the end, Dr. S.K. Mahajan proposed vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, participating Scientists, faculty, staff and PG students for attending this function.
