Inter-Department Football (Men) competition
Amritsar ( Bharat Sandesh ) – The Department of Social Sciences won the first position in the Guru Nanak Dev University Inter-department Football (Men) Tournament organized by the office of the Dean, Students Welfare of the University here. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering remained runners-up while the Electronics Technology Department got third position.
Prof. Inderjit Singh, Registrar of the University, who was the chief guest of the valedictory function, distributed trophies to the winners. Dr. H.S. Randhawa, Deputy Director (Physical Education) was also present on this occasion. Twelve teams participated in the five-day competitions. Earlier, the Department of Social Sciences in a well contested match defeated Department of Computer Science & Engineering by 3-2 through penalty kicks as no team could score in the prescribed time. The Computer Science & Engineering Department got second position in the tournament. For the third position, the Electronics Technology Department thrashed the Department of Applied Chemical Sciences in a one-sided affair by 6-0.
