WILDLIFE WEEK FROM TODAY
HANDIGARH (Bharat Sandesh) – The Forest and Wildlife Protection Minister Mr. Arunesh Shakir exhorted the people of Punjab to adopt friendly behaviour towards the wildlife leaving rude attitude.
The Punjab Government would start ‘Wildlife Week-2011’ from 1st to 8th October from Government College Amritsar, where Forest and Wildlife Protection Minister Mr. Arunesh Shakir would flag off an awareness rally. Mr. Arunesh Shakir said that the state government is committed to protect and preserve the wildlife at any cost and now the people having anti-friendly behaviour against wildlife would have to face legal action since the instructions in this regard has been issued to the concerned authorities. He said that during the ‘Wildlife Week’, slogan writing, painting and quiz competitions would be organised among students to create awareness regarding wildlife protection. He said that later on marathon would also take place from Government College Amritsar.
The minister said that the aim of organising competition among students during Wildlife Week is to inspire young generation towards the wildlife protection as they can play an important role in this regard. He said that the Punjab Government was committed to protect and preserve wildlife in the state and the government has approved Rs 632 Lakhs under ‘State Plan Scheme FT-21’ for the conservation, management and development of wildlife in the state, out of which Rs 316 lakhs have been released.
