PAHAL plans to celebrate NATIONAL VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION WEEK starting from 1st October NATIONAL VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION DAY.

Prof. Lakhbir Singh President PAHAL told that PAHAL plans to celebrate NATIONAL VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION WEEK starting from 1st October NATIONAL VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION DAY.

It will organize awareness talks, Rallies, Voluntary Blood donation camps and other activities in the coming week in colleges and schools. Today a blood donation camp was organised by Bowri Memorial Education trust in Lohara Campus in which 66 Young boys and girls donated blood to mark the dayThe multiple Voluntary blood donors mobilized by PAHAL has been honoured in a State level function organized by PSACS in Ludhiana. Mr. Naresh Beri got honour for his 100 Voluntary blood donations, Mr Karanti Kumar Shangari for 90 Voluntary blood donations, Mr. Rakesh Gupta, Mr. Vimil Luther, Mr Atin Khanna, Mr Ashwani Prasher and Mrs Harvinder Kaur has been honoured for their more than 40 Voluntary blood donations. Overall PAHAL has been honoured for the mobilization of more than 930 units of blood in the recent year. Prof. Lakhbir Singh told that this number is only of the units which has been donated in the VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION CAMPS BY Blood Bank run by civil hospital, Overall PAHAL has mobilised more than 5000 units of Blood in the camps and in the different private blood banks to meet the blood emergencies. He commented that to fulfil the vision of 100% provision of Voluntary Blood during the need, it is required to update the Govt Blood banks as well as the Govt paraphernalia to appreciate the voluntary agencies and voluntary blood donors. The Rs 25/- amount for refreshment is too small for Voluntary blood donor in this time. He added that PAHAL has long standing experience in Voluntary blood donation and transfusion since its inception, It has proud record to organise hundreds of Blood donation camps and mobilised more than 38000 units of blood in the last 16 years. He appealed the Punjabis to come forward to join Voluntary blood donation campaign to improve it from .4% to atleast 1% of Punjab’s population to ensure 100% provision of Voluntary blood to the recepients. He discouraged the Professional donors. Sh. Satpal Gosain Health Minister was the Chief guest and Sh. Satish Chandra IAS Principal Secretary Health and Family welfare has awarded the Blood donor organizations and Voluntary blood donors. Others present were Project Director Punjab State AIDS Control Society Dr. N M Sharma and directors of Different health Departments of Govt of Punjab
