HIGH LEVEL COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED UNDER CHAIRMANSHIP OF CS TO FINALIZE ARRANGEMENTS
CHANDIGARH-The prestigious world class Sikh monument, ‘Khalsa Heritage Centre’ (KHC) at Sri Anandpur Sahib would be dedicated to the nation in November, 2011.
A decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal to review the present status of KHC and arrangements for its opening ceremony during a high level meeting held here at Chief Minister’s residence this morning.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Mr. Badal also approved the dresses designed by the Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), Mohali for the visitor services associates and other staff of KHC.
It may be recalled here that the concept of KHC was sheer brain child of Mr. Badal who had handpicked a renowned architect Moshe Safdie for its fruition that took more than ten years period.
Taking part in the deliberations, the Chief Minister asked the officers present in the meeting to commemorate this historic occasion with great enthusiasm and religious fervor and described KHC as a ‘land mark’ in the history of Punjab on one hand and a world class museum to apprise the people across the globe with the philosophy and tenets of Sikh religion, history and culture on the other.
Meanwhile, Mr. Badal also constituted a high level committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Mr. SC Agrawal to chalk out a detailed program and finalize the modalities of the inauguration ceremony. The other members of the committee would be Principal Secretary Home, Principal Secretary Finance, Secretary Tourism & Cultural Affairs and DGP.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Sri Anandpur Sahib Foundation Dr. Karamjit Singh Sra apprised the Chief Minister about the progress of the project.
Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included Finance Minister Dr. Upinderjit Kaur, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr.DS Guru, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. KBS Sidhu, Director NIIFT Mr. VN Mathur and Assistant Prof. (Fashion Technology) Dr. Sumrita Singh.
