PCCTU DEPUTATION MEETS SUKHBIR BADAL

A deputation of Punjab and Chandigarh College teachers Union (PCCTU) led by its president Dr. Jagwant Singh and General secretary Prof H.S Walia met Deputy chief minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal toady . After discussing demands with the representatives of the PCCTU, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal issued instruction that the secretary (Higher education) should prepare a detailed note and a meeting be fixed at the earliest to resolve the grievances of teachers.
 Earlier, Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union, in response to the proposed meeting had called off the rally and court arrest programme scheduled for today. The demands of PCCTU include inter-alia, pension and gratuity schemes as per scheme approved by the Government in 2001 under the Act enacted in 1999, lifting of the ban on the recruitment better service conditions and security of service for teachers working on Unaided posts  revise pay scales , arrears and extension of date for completion of refresher courses.
Dy. Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal assured the deputation that they have resolved the pension issue of staff of aided schools and would like to resolve the pending issues of aided college teachers at the earliest.
