World Nature Day observed in Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School, G.T. Road.

orests are the store house of evolution but the large scale felling of the trees has now led to the extinction of many species which ultimately harms the humans. In this regard, Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School, G.T. Road, Amritsar, observed world nature day. The program consisted of the ceremonial planting of saplings by the school Principal and Teachers and students in Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School, Pidhi Piind, Tarn Taran. Principal in his keynote address said that the plantation of 100 eco friendly trees will enhance the beauty of this village in natural manner. He further said that planting of trees is symbolic gesture to celebrate our reverence for all the things that grow in forest. “Trees mean water, water helps to grow wheat and bread and it is bread that gives and sustains life”, he said. The students also took out rally carrying placards on importance of trees. A field trip to the bird sanctuary in Harike Patan was also organised. The day ended with the students pledge to save trees and plant more.
