ICELAND AMBASSADOR CALLS ON CM VIE TO DEVELOP TOURISM CENTRE IN PUNJAB

CHANDIGARH – Iceland Ambassador Mr. Gudmundur Eiriksson today called on Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and evinced keen interest to set up Tourism centre in Punjab.
Taking part in the deliberations during a meeting with Mr. Badal at Chief Minister’s residence this morning, Mr. Gudmundur apprised him that Tourism was second largest business sector in their country after Fishery.    Appreciating the congenial atmosphere in the state, he said that the bilateral cooperation between the Iceland and India, especially the Punjab could give a boost to the huge potential in tourism sector. He also presented a philosophical book of rare sayings of 13th century to Mr. Badal.
Mr. Badal assured the Ambassador of Iceland that Punjab government would extend fulsome support and cooperation to explore the un-taped tourism potential in the state.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister honoured the visiting envoy by presenting a memento as a token of love and affection on behalf of the Punjabis. Mr. was accompanied by his Special Principal Secretary Mr. KJS Cheema in the meeting.
