Amritsar – Today was the fourth day of the 7-day NSS camp being organized by BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar. Both Red Cross Unit and NSS Unit visited Nishkaam school and Qila Jiwan Singh village, which has been adapted by the college.
Along with the medical team, comprising of renowned doctors namely, Dr. Satinder Singh Bedi, Dr. Kanwar J.P. Singh and Dr. Rajesh Kumar and teachers of BBK DAV College namely Hapreet Dusanjh, Jaspreet Bedi, Sapna Gupta, Anupreet Narang, Chandan Aggarwal, Mehak Arora, Nagaz Bubber and Aashima, students also accompanied with full enthusiasm.
Highlights of the visit were medical camp, eye check up in collaboration with vision express and stitching workshop.The villagers were very responding and got their thorough checkup done. There were 65 beneficiaries. When Harpreet Dusanjh was asked to give her views about the event, she said that she was overwhelmed to see such welcoming behavior of the villagers and blessed them with all the warm wishes. The women-folk of the village enjoyed the stitching workshop the most and many of them promised to carry it on throughout their lives, whatever they have learnt.
Visit to Nishkaam School has been an enriching experience for NSS volunteers and NCC cadets. It is the school for children of slum dwellers. An eye-camp was arranged there and it attracted total 160 beneficiaries. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra appreciated the tremendous efforts and creative abilities of the NSS Volunteers and Red Cross unit.
