Amritsar – Central Board of Direct Taxes Member, Manjari Kacker today addressed all the Income Tax Officers of Amritsar Region at a specially organized function at local Khalsa College’s Centre Hall and asked them to meet the targets of tax collections for the financial year 2011-12. She appreciated the work being done but said that there are new targets of budget collection to the tune of Rs. 5,85,000 crores at the national level and each and every officers of the department needs to pull up their socks to deliver the better results.
After being welcomed by Khalsa College Governing Council, Vice-President, Charanjit Singh Chadha, Hon. Secretary, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Council Members, Harminder Singh, Ajmer Singh Heir and P.S. Sethi and Principal, Dr. Daljit Singh, Kacker who is 1974 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) Officer and Incharge of New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir states, addressed more than 100 income tax officers and termed her visit as most successful. She said her visit should be a wakeup call for the all staff members to meet their targets.
Earlier she addressed a mid term review of the officers and sought speedier processing of returns to ensure quick redressal of the grievances of the general public. She expressed come concerns over the declining advance tax collections and directed the officials to make efforts to achieve the given targets in this sector also. She stressed on the effective and closer monitoring of the assesses by each Assessing Officer to ensure better revenue budget collection for the Financial Year 2011-12.
She also highlighted that there are six months more in the financial years thus the officers have still time to meet their targets. Those present during the function included Chief Commission of Income Tax Amritsar Region, K.S. Pathania, Harbhajan Singh, Commissioner – I, Surinderjit Singh, Commissioner Appeals and Additional Commissioners including Abha Rani and T.P. Singh.
