Amritsar – S. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab here today unveiled the foundation stone of Heritage Village at the Guru Nanak Dev University.
The University has given 11 acres of land to the Punjab Government for this project and the construction is going on. Rs. 12 crores would be spent on this project to be completed by 2012.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Brar, Dean, Academic Affairs, Dr. Rajinderjit Kaur Pawar, Registrar, Dr. Inderjit Singh alongwith other officials and teachers of the University warmly received Sardar Badal. Among others, S. Hira Singh Gabaria, Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu, Member Parliament and Mrs. Geetika Kalha, Principal Secretary, Tourism and Cultural Affairs were also present on this occasion.
The aim of this project is to preserve and showcase the rich heritage and culture of Punjab for the coming generations. It would be completed in 2012.
