CHANDIGARH – In a signed letter of appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. R. C. Sobti, the women faculty of the Panjab University, put on record its deep appreciation and gratitude for the tremendous efforts made by him in getting their long pending demand approved by the University Syndicate in its meeting held on 9.10.2011 in which the dependents of female employees shall be eligible for medical reimbursement at par with their male counterparts. According to Prof. Rajesh Gill, Chairperson, Dept. of Sociology and Director, Dept. cum Centre for Women Studies and Development, “This is a major achievement for all women employees, both teaching and non teaching. We are extremely grateful to Prof. Sobti for having shown such a gender sensitive approach and putting the women employees at the same pedestal as our male colleagues. This will surely go a long way in empowering the women employees of the University, especially towards their dependents”. The women faculty expressed their whole hearted support to the Vice Chancellor.
Sh. Gurdeep Singh, President, Panjab University Staff Association (PUSA) met the Vice Chancellor today with a delegation of non-teaching employees to extend his appreciation of the progressive and inclusive measures put into place by the Vice Chancellor and the Syndicate in providing medical reimbursement to the wards of female non –teaching employees, implementing the revised DC rates to the daily wage workers employed in the University and its affiliated colleges, allowing an advance on salary in the festive season and including the non-teaching staff in the revision of rules pertaining to earned leave.
