Amritsar – Prof. A. S. Brar Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University has said that the University has always taken flexible view on the demands of the University Teachers.
He was expressing these views in a meeting held with the Office Bearers of the GNDUTA on Saturday. The office bearers of the GNDUTA had met the Vice Chancellor to discuss the issues on which the teachers were agitating.
The Vice Chancellor told that the cases of those teachers, whose dates of promotions were changed by selection committees, could be reconsidered after seeking the opinion of the UGC.
Regarding the case of Dr Bhalla, the Vice Chancellor reiterated that any action against him can be taken only after his response to the Show Cause Notice to be issued by the University. He said that the decision to issue Show Cause Notice to Dr Bhalla was taken unanimously by the Syndicate and nobody had the power to withdraw or alter the decision of the Syndicate.The meeting took place in a positive atmosphere. The V C appealed to the teachers to shed their agitational approach and resume their duties in the interest of the students and the University.
The meeting was attended by the President and Secretary of GNDUTA, Dr Rajinder Puar Dean Academic, Dr M.P.S. Ishar Dean Students Welfare, and Dr A.K. Thukral Director Research.
