On the concluding day of Eighth Gurmat Sangeet Utsav organised by Gurmat Sangeet Chair – Department of Gurmat Sangeet, Punjabi University Patiala, a National Seminar on the topic Gurmat Sangeet : An Academic Perspective was organised at Gurmat Sangeet Bhawan, Punjabi University Patiala. The seminar was presided by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh. Dr. S.P. Singh, former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Dr. Gurnek Singh, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib were the chief guests of the Seminar.
While inaugurating the Seminar, Dr. S.P. Singh emphasized that a comparative analysis from scientific perspective ins the need of the hour in this subect. He also appreciated the contribution of Guru Nanak Dev University and Punjabi University.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh stated that University will continue their efforts to promote Gurmat Sangeet in context with various perspective at global level.
Dr. Jagir Singh, Former Professor & Head, Department of Gurmat Sangeet in his key-note presented the historical academic development of Gurmat Sangeet in context of higher education and research.
Dr. Gurnek Singh and Prof. Kulwant Singh Grewal suggested to the scholars to promote this music tradition in the right direction.
In the second session, various scholars of Gurmat Sangeet presented their research papers. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Sing and Dr. Gurnam Singh, Professor & Head, Gurmat Sangeet Chair – Department of Gurmat Sangeet honoured the dignitaries, scholars & organisers of Gurmat Sangeet Utsav.
