Medical students of London and Doctors of British Medical Council join hands with Dr Harshindar Kaur for NO DOWRY CAMPAIGN and stopping Female Foeticide.
1100 people have signed the petition of the NO DOWRY CAMPAIGN started by Dr Harshindar Kaur ,under her banner HAIL THE GIRL CHILD ,in London and Brimingham,during her visit to England from the 6th of October to the 15th October 2011. This petition is a continuation of Dr Harshindar campaign to stop female foeticide at the International level in various countries.
Earlier this drive has received overwhelming support in Canada, USA and Europe. Students and youngsters from various colleges and universities have hailed this initiative of Dr Harshindar and have firmly resolved to stand by her and follow her footsteps in an effort to stop this menace of foeticide and infanticide.
During her present visit to London and Brimingham, she addressed medical students of Guys Hospital and Kings College , London . These students belonging to Punjabi families ,born and bred in England appreciated her efforts and firmly assured her that they would fight the menace of female foeticide , a practice that is also seen in England ,especially amongst the Asian populations.
The doctors of the Asian wing of the British Medical council also hailed Dr Harshindar Kaur and assured her that they would support her in her efforts.
At a meeting with the officers of Department for International Development (DFID), which is a branch of the UK Government dealing with providing aid to the developing countries for various projects , Dr Harshindar Kaur apprised them about the problem of Female Foeticide ,Infanticide and domestic violence amongst the Asian communities in England and also of her efforts to stop these crimes at the international level by raising awareness at various international fora. She has been assured of The UK government taking these problems seriously and giving her support in India and elsewhere. A meeting of Dr Harshindar Kaur has been fixed with their officers in Delhi where their India office is located.
Dr Harshindar Kaur also held a meeting with HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH (HRW ) ,an internationally acclaimed body dealing with human rights all over the world .She apprised them about the violations of female rights like the right to give birth, and the curse of domestic violence amongst Asian women in their native countries and also in their adopted countries of the developed world. She was assured continuous support from UK .
A Dutch journalist from Netherlands is coming to India in late October to document Dr Harshindar Kaurs work on film.
She has been honoured by various societies and associations of UK like the British Sikh Council for her untiring efforts to combat the evils stalking the Asian women.
