INTER-COLLEGE YOUTH FEST KICKS OFF AT PAU

LUDHIANA –  The Inter-College Youth Festival for the session 2011-12  kick started today at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The students of the constituent colleges of PAU including College of Agriculture (COA), College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAE&T), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (COBS&H)and College of Home Science (COHS), exhibited their talent and creativity in collage making, cartooning and creative writing competitions.
            Inaugurating the fest, PAU Comptroller A.C. Rana said that youth festival provides a platform to the generation Y to unlock their hidden talent and demonstrate their skills in a series of events. Moreover, participation in extra curricular activities helps in all round personality development of the students, he said. He exhorted the youth to work hard and develop a sense of social responsibility towards the society.
           The second session was presided was over by Dr P.K. Khanna, Technical Advisor to PAU Vice-Chancellor.
Addressing the dignitaries and participants, Dr D.S. Cheema, Director Students’ Welfare, said that although PAU is a science university, yet the students have the zeal and fervour to win laurels in the musical, literary, dance and theatre items. He informed that the main inauguration of the fest would be held on October 21.
            Dr Nirmal Jaura, Organising Secretary of the fest, told that the next three days will witness competitions in poster making, clay modeling, on the spot painting, photography, rangoli, debate, poetic recitation and extempore/elocution.

Results:-

Collage Making – First- Subhash SP (COBS&H), Second – Visudha Sharma (COAE&T) and Third – Priya Singh (COA).
Creative Writing –

First – Amandeep (COAE&T), Second – Rahul Batta (COAE&T) and Third – Navdeep Bhandari (COA).
