Amritsar – Renowned Punjabi researcher and litterateur Dr. Kuldeep Singh Dhir today said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib can withstand any scientific scrutiny and asked the science and scientists to rather take clues from Sri Guru Granth Sahib for their research and explorations. He said depicting a highest degree of scientific temper, the Granth Sahib break away the myth that the science and religion can not co-exist.
He was speaking at the special lecture on `Sri Guru Granth Sahib: a Scientific Outlook’ at Khalsa College’s main seminar hall. College Principal Dr. Daljit Singh presided over seminar. Dr. Dhir who has published numerous papers and have written above 50 books, said that science form the basis of the whole of Guru Granth Sahib. He said the Gurus were epitomes from where the knowledge was generated and the divine order originated.
He said Guru Granth Sahib explains the notion of `beyond the time’ in 15th century, the subject which the scientists today are harping upon. He said when the science was in infancy and still struggling to find if the Earth was at the Centre of the Universe or the Sun, Gurus described that there are hundreds of planets, galaxies and even suns in the whole universe which is limitless.
The seminar was organized by Khalsa College and Registrar of the College Prof. Baljinder Singh, head of Department of Punjabi Prof. HS Sekhon, Professor, Department of Punjabi, Prof.Bhupinder Singh Jolly and Head Department of Sikh History and Research Prof Inderjit Singh Gagoana were present and they all spoke on the subject while participating in the discussions that followed the lecture.
Dr.Dalji Singh termed the lecture highly valuable for the students and even the faculties as it gave them sufficient matter to ponder upon. He said the Guru Granth Sahib is so vast that it is difficult for one generation of researcher or experts to complete their studies on its all aspects.
