Ludhiana – Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) have, since its inception made leaping strides towards popularity in all the fields, it has been mandated to.   In the World Veterinary Year 2011, GADVASU is going to organize dog show on 30th October 2011 at Silver Jubilee Complex of College of Veterinary Science. While revealing this information Dr. Kirti Dua Head, Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine shared that a wide variety of dogs of different breeds from northern India will compete in this dog show. The judging will be done by the eminent canine judges from India.  Prizes will be given to the best dogs brought to the show. Two interesting prizes included best junior handler and best lady handler will be awarded. On describing importance of dog as pet Dr. Dua said that dog is a most popular pet as a household animal kept for companionship and a person’s enjoyment. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits, keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress to those who like having animals around. There is now a medically-approved class of "therapy animals," mostly dogs that are brought to visit confined humans. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction.
In this dog show all the major pharmaceutical companies of the country dealing with the veterinary products will be participating. Besides this there will be stalls from the dog groomers and pet food manufactures. Thus this dog show  will be a very good platform where all the stake holders in the companion animal industry i.e. clinicians, students, pharmaceuticals, pet food manufacturers, dog breeders and pet lovers  can interact with each other and be benefitted.
