Atal Swasthya Sewa proves to be life saver: Dr. Bindal

A record number of 69648 emergencies were attended under Atal Swasthya Sewa in a period of 9 months. This was stated by Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health Minister while presiding over a review meeting of Health Department convened to review the progress of Atal Swasthya Sewa.
Dr. Bindal said that besides emergencies 13323 expecting mothers, 4353 patients with health disorders, 3865 patients with heart ailments, 13257 patients with stomach ache, 735 patients suffering from poisoning, 404 patients with snake bite were benefitted and 29488 other  health related cases were attended to in this brief period. Lauding the achievements of the State Government, he said that people residing in far off areas of the State were now relieved that in case of any emergency, they would be able to avail free of cost services under Atal Swasthya Sewa.
Expressing concern over the rise in number of snake bites, Dr. Bindal said that maximum number of snake bite cases were recorded in Kangra district whereas Lahaul-Spiti had the least number of cases. He said that in 92 percent cases of snake bites, toll free number 108 had proved a life saver.
