PSPCL DENIES ANY INCREASE IN POWER TARIFF OR FUEL SURCHARGE

Chandigarh – Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) today strongly denied reports of any increase in power tariff and the surcharge of 8 Paisa per unit for metered supply and Rs 5 per BHP for un-metered supply as reported in a section of press today.
                 According to the spokesman of PSPCL there was no fresh increase in the Power Tariff and the surcharge of 8 Paisa per unit for metered supply and Rs 5 per BHP for un-metered supply was already being charged from April 1st, 2011 as allowed by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission. He said the status quo has been maintained in the case of fuel surcharge and no fresh increase has been affected by the Regulatory Commission. He said that there has been no additional burden on any category of electricity consumers as the electricity tariff remains same.
                The spokesman allayed the misgiving of the public about the increase in tariff and said that there has been no increase in tariff.
