Ludhiana – The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V.Patil, while addressing in a function organized by Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust Ludhiana to celebrate 122 birth anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru said that Pt. Nehru was apostle of peace and architect of modern India.
Appreciating the role of Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust for propagating ideologies of late Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru and in providing help to the poor and weaker sections of society irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Mr. Patil said Pt. Nehru encouraged development of Science & Technology and his wide vision and policies led to a sizeable growth in agriculture and Industrial production. He stressed upon imbibing principal of Pt. Nehru to younger generation in a true spirit create a healthy society.
Mr. Patil conferred Sat Pal Mittal National Award – 2011 for outstanding service to humanity was presented to Dr. Ibrahim G. Thomas, Director CMC Ludhiana and another presented second award to Mr. A. Balakrishanan, Vice President of Vivekanand Rock Memorial Kendra Kanyakumari.
Earlier, Mr. Patil visited FieldFresh Foods Private Limited at Ludhiana and interacted with the farmers. He said that we have the potential, knowledge, expertise and professional capability and we must pool all these to achieve better results in the agriculture field. He emphasized that our agriculture scientists and experts must educate our farmers on the application of new cost effective technologies, quality seeds, timely use of various inputs, including fertilizers and insecticides for getting higher yield in different crops.
Mr. Patil also visited all sections of processing unit of agriculture center of Excellence right from raw material section to packaging unit of baby corn processing plant. Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal explained at length to the Governor regarding the working production and export of the excellence center.
Lauding the efforts of Field Fresh Foods Private Limited for running Agriculture Centre of Excellence, which was one of the largest agricultural R&D facilities of its kind in the country, Mr Patil said such centres would certainly help in imparting the latest know-how to the farming community to make optimum use of resources like water and minimize the use of chemical ,fertilizers and pesticides which would improve the soil health and also reduce the growing costs. As their main focus on crop and varietal trails and promotion of progressive farming technique.
Mr. Patil also visited Sat Pal Mittal School in Ludhiana and visited all the class rooms and interacted with the students. Mr. Patil appreciated the efforts of the school Director, Col D.B. Sharma, Principal and Staff for imparting education to students based on modern techniques which would help in developing the overall personality of the students.
Mr. Patil also visited Satya Bharti Primary School opened in Agri Centre of Excellence, Laudawal to provide education facilities free of cost to the children of staff and worker employed in the farm.
