PRINCIPALS’ FEDERATION EXTENDS SUPPORT TO PCCTU

The agitation of teaching and non-teaching employees of 170 non-govt. colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh for implementation of pension scheme, lifting of the ban on recruitment, restoring parity of pay scales and allowances for non-teaching employees with their counterparts working in Govt. colleges, amendment to Education Tribunal Act, extension in the date for competition of refresher courses, release of pay scale arrears and enhancement in the retirement age got a moral boost when ‘Federation of Principals Association of Punjab and Chandigarh extended support to the joint agitation of teaching and non-teaching employees.
In a statement Principal Gurdip Sharma and Principal Jaspal Singh Randhawa President and Secretary respectively of the Federation supported the demands which are in the interest of the colleges. They said that in fact Govt. should have accepted the demands long time back to prevent the agitation Addressing the rally of teachers at Layalpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, Principal Randhawa said that Govt. should immediately talk to the agitating teachers to resolve the genuine issues. He assured the teachers that if Govt. failed to address the issue, Principals will not hesitate to come out in a big way to support to agitation.
Dr. Jagwant Singh, President PCCTU welcomed the decision of the Principals to support the agitation.
