Quinquennial review meeting on post harvest sector held at CIPHET

Ludhiana, November 26: Aiming to assess the progress of the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on post harvest sector, a Quinquennial Review meeting was held at Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET). ICAR Deputy Director General (DDG) Dr M.M Pandey chaired the meeting and took first hand information about five year achievements in AICRP on post harvest, which is running in various parts of the country to boost up this sector and development of region specific technologies. Prominent among others in the reviewing panel included ICAR ADG Dr K.K Singh, former ADG ICAR Dr R.P Kachru and Vice-Chancellor of Junagarh Agricultural University (JNU) Dr N.C Patel. Dr S.K Nanda, Project Coordinator (PHT), apprised reviewing panel about technologies developed under this project. Director CIPHET Dr R.K Gupta elaborated on role played by CIPHET in post harvest sector. Members of the reviewing panel would also be visiting at the coordinating centers to assess the ground situation across the country.  Notably, All India Coordinated Research Project on Post Harvest Technology was launched by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Department of Agricultural Research & Education, Ministry of Agriculture, in September 1972 for development of region specific technologies.
