Refresher Course in Social Sciences concluded at GNDU

Amritsar, November 29– “Social Scientists have the responsibility to make good citizens” it was told by Dr. Rajinderjit Kaur Puar, Dean, Academic Affairs of Guru Nanak Dev University while presiding over the valedictory function of the Refresher Course in Social Sciences organized by the Academic Staff College from November 9 to 29.
          She said that learning of Social Sciences is vital to the health of any society. Earlier, Dr. Harish C. Sharma, Coordinator of the course said that during this 3-week course teachers of History, Philosophy, Political Science and Sociology from across the Country had participated in it. He said that the resource persons from all the disciplines of Social Sciences, Prominent among who were Professor     H.K. Puri and Professor J.S. Grewal, dwelt upon several topics around the focus of the course which was “Contemporary Problems of Social Sciences.” The themes discussed by scholars were evolution of Social Sciences, Interactions and Debates during the 19th century, Problems of Peasantry, Partition of India, World Affairs, Economic Meltdown, Usages of Inflibnet and Issues related to Environment.
At the end of the function, Dr. Pawar distributed completion certificates to the participants. Dr. Satish Verma, Director, Academic Staff College, Dr. Adarsh Pal Vig and Dr. Radha Sharma, Dean, Social Sciences were present on the occasion.
