Voices for girls education at KCW’s Career Vision-2011

Amritsar, November 30, 2011- The voices for the need of girls’ education in the state, which is suffering from menace of female infanticide, were aired at ‘Career Vision-2011’, a programme aimed to create awareness amongst girls regarding their career choice which was organised at local Khalsa College for Women today. The programme was held for the 6th consecutive year and special lectures and demonstrations were held to make the girl students aware of the new courses through the career guidance by the college authorities.
Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC), Honorary Secretary, S. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina addressed the over 700 plus two students who gathered here from above 70 school from all over the district and stressed that girls education is most important if we want to build a healthy, educated and progressive society. He said the students are at crucial juncture when they are passing out from the schools to enter into the colleges and the universities.
“This is the time when you have to make a right choice relating your career and you will have to choose right subjects. It is our endeavor to make you aware about the recent developments in the field of education and apprise you about the new courses being offered to choose a right career in the future”, said S. Chhina. He added that it is our duty to make girls self reliant so that the girls get their due respect in the family and society only then we will be able to fight the evils like dowry and female infanticide.
College Principal, Dr. Sukhbir Kaur Mahal while addressing the students said that KCW is a gateway to academic and professional excellence and this programme is meant to open the doors to the young minds to explore their career opportunities. “The key goal of the 6th successive Career Vision-2011 is to shape young minds on their respective talents and interest. Through the career vision programme, our college provides a congenial environment to the participants to get valuable advice on selecting right career.
A talent hunt competition was also organized on the occasion in which Sofia from Khalsa College Public School stood first while second position was achieved by Sandeep kaur and Richa while third position was attained by Anjali and Geetanjli. The Principals of various schools including Khalsa College Public International School, DK Sandhu, Khalsa College Sr. Sec. School, Heir, Gurinderjit and Khalsa College of Nursing, Balwinder Kaur Butter were honoured by S. Chhina during the occasion. A gidha was performed by college students.
