Amritsar, December 1 : A 3-Week Refresh Course in English inaugurated at the Academic Staff College of the Guru Nanak Dev University. This course is being organized for the teachers of English language of the Universities and Colleges. This course is being organised association with English Department of the University. This course would be concluded on December 19.
Dr. Manjitinder Singh, Professor, Punjab University, Patiala was the chief- guest and inaugurated the Refresher Course. Prof. Satish Verma, Director Academic Staff College welcomed the chief guest and others and detailed about the Academic Staff College. Dr. Sukhdev Singh from English Department detailed about the course. Dr. Yubee Gill, Head of the Department proposed vote of thanks on this occasion. Dr. Harbir Singh Mankoo, Dr. Manbir Singh and Dr. Gurupdesh Singh were also present.
Dr. Manjitinder Singh said that literature has major contributions in the development in language. He said that literature is the image of the Society. So, to understand any Society the knowledge of literature of that Society is essential. He also encouraged teachers to read more literature to enhance their knowledge.
