Golden Jubilee Celebrations at Punjabi University

Patiala, Dec 1- As a part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, Punjabi University, Patiala, held a special function to honour its former Vice-Chancellors for their contribution in raising the status of the University to the present exalted position.  While honouring them, the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Dr Jaspal Singh said, “Golden Jubilee is a momentous occasion in the history of any institution. We, as a part of golden jubilee celebrations of our University, have decided to honour all those who have made significant contribution to raise the status of our University to the present exalted and glorious position.” Honouring of our former Vice-Chancellors is the first step in that direction, he said.
Present in person on the occasion were two former Vice-Chancellors, Dr Bhagat Singh and Dr H.K. Manmohan Singh, while son of Dr Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, MrVikramjit Singh received the honours from Dr Jaspal Singh. MrAmarjit Singh, Station Head of All India Radio, Patiala and Dr Ranbir Singh Sarao, a former Registrar of Punjabi University, received the mementoes on behalf of Dr S. S. Johl and Joginder Singh Puar, respectively. Dr Jaspal Singh said that though we had sent invitations to all the Vice-Chancellors, Dr Swarn Singh Boparai and Dr InderjitKaurSandhu could not make it to the occasion on personal grounds. Dr Bhagat Singh and Dr H.K. Manmohan Singh thanked the Vice-Chancellor or his kind and thoughtful gesture that remains unprecedented in the history of Punjabi university.
