Patiala 1 Dec.2011: Seminar on World Philosophy Day was organised by Guru Gobind Singh Department of Religious Studies Punjabi University, Patiala with the help of Indian Council of Philosophical Research, Govt. of India, Ministry of human resource and management. The topic of the seminar was Islam and terrorism: Ideology and Issues. The Chief Speaker of the seminar was Dr. Swaraj Singh who operates laser clinic of Central Washington, U.S. A and authored many books namely Our Society and Globalisation, Asia’s Century, East and West Changing Equation and many more.
the seminar was held at the premises of the department. Head of the department & Prof. H.S. Pannu and co-ordinator Dr. Mohd. Habib welcomed the esteemed guests. Dr. J.A Khan, Dean Colleges presided over the function. He welcomed Dr. Swaraj Singh by presented him a University memento and a Shawl. Speaking on the paper Dr. Swaraj Singh started with an introduction to Islam and its basics. He termed Islam as major religion of the world and is acting as a bridge between east & west. Explaining the main cause of terrorism the credited at to western consumerist culture and greed. He laid emphasis on submission to god and understand religion. He concluded with a Message of following peace in every religion and do away with greed and materialistic approaches.
Dr. G.S. Sidhu delivered a vote of thanks to all the present members in the seminar and invited everyone for question answer session.
