Amritsar, December 2 – Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu of Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy Department of Guru Nanak Dev University has joined as Professor Incharge (Public Relations) of the University. This appointment has been made by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Brar keeping in view his achievements. He is also decorated with MBBS, MS (Orthopedics), D.S.M, F.A.I.S., F.A.S.M., F.I.A.S.M.E.S., F.A.F.S.M. degrees of National and International levels.
Dr. Jaspal Singh has randed his services as Head of Deparment of Sports Medicine & Physiotherapy for more than 15 years and Dean of the Faculty for 11 years. Dr. Jaspal Singh has published more than two hundred research papers of national and international jounrnals of repute. About 11 Ph.D. students are working on various research activities under the guideance of Dr. Jaspal Singh. He has also guided 47 master degree thesis.
He has also designed five International level MoUs. He has drafted and presented Centre with Potential for Excellance in Sports Sciences Project worth Rs.30 Crores out of which Rs. 6 Crores has already allocated to the University.
Dr. Jaspal Singh has not only started the Department of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy in the University but also contributed to make it identified at not only National Level but at the Internatinal Level also. Due to his initiatives the department finds special mention in the National Assesment and Accreditation Council Report of 2007 as having established International recognition and Visibility in short span of 12 years. He was also Examiner for two International and 11 Indian Universities.
Besides this Dr. Jaspal Singh is also Secretary General, Asian Federation of Sports Medicine Member, Scientific Commission, Asian Federation of Sports Medicine Member, Education Commission, International Federation of Sports Medicine Coordinator, Component “A”, UGC Center with Potential for Excellence in Sports Sciences Immediate Past President, Indian Association of Sports Medicine Dean & Professor with the credit of taking the initiative for the development and establishment of the department and courses.
His expertise also includes academic teaching of curriculum of Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine and Sports Sciences. History of development of curriculum, decision-making and providing direction for setting up of Sports Medicine centers. Has an extensive knowledge of government and academic (UGC) requirements. Committed to research and development and personnel management with a talent for analyzing problems, developing innovative solutions. Proven ability to motivate and work effectively with persons from other cultures/states and all walks of life. Is skilled in working within a foreign academic environment. Extensive knowledge of equipment and systems required for Sports Sciences and Physiotherapy set up. Committed to highest levels of professional and personal excellence. Has expertise in organization and planning of National and International conferences. Has expertise in all areas of administration and management with a proven record of unprecedented accomplishments.
