Amritsar, 5 December 2011: Terming the PHD- Punjab International Trade Expo, PITEX, 2011 to be a great success, Rajiv Bali, Chairman, Punjab Committee, PHD Chamber informed that the sixth edition of PHD-PITEX, PITEX, 2011 was able to generate business enquiries worth more than 210 Crore.
During the five day mega event, industry associations from Punjab had detailed meetings with the representatives of visiting 11 Chambers of Commerce and Industry from Pakistan. Business communities on both the sides showed keen interest in business opportunities available in respective countries. Bali said, the Memorandum of Understanding signed by PHD Chamber and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry is just a stepping stone, adding “We look forward to the translation of this memorandum into good business deals in near future”. Bali shared that the Indian business houses had good interactions with representatives of Ghana, South Africa, Botswana, UAE, Thailand, Iran and other participating countries apart from Pakistan.
More than 2.5 lakh visitors have already visited the trade fair, informed Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber at the time of filing the release. It being the last day of the State Event, long queues at the entry gate could be seen at this hour also.
Looking at the overwhelming response from the visitors, and exhibitors, both from India and overseas, and agreeing to S. Parkash Singh Badal, the Chief Minister, Punjab, PHD Chamber has decided to organize the seventh edition of PHD-Punjab International Trade Expo, PITEX, 2012 at Amritsar for the fifth consecutive year, informed R S Sachdeva, Co-Chairman, Punjab Committee, PHD Chamber.
Few awards were also distributed on the last day of PHD-PITEX, 2011. The Award for Highest Footfall category went to International Tractors Limited. While the award for Best Display went to Kajaria tiles, Pak World was given the award for Best International exhibitor. PSIEC was awarded the best PSU award.
