CHANDIGARH, DECEMBER 05:The Punjab Government in order to please almost all the categories of employees of the state by giving them higher pay scales, has completely forgotten 90 percent of the technical staff by giving undue and higher pay scales to 10 percent of the ministerial staff.
While reacting strongly to the step- motherly treatment of the government towards the technical staff, Mr. Narinder Sharma, President Punjab Technical Employees Association said that out of the ignored categories, a large number of categories were still acting as vital link between the government and the people by discharging their round the clock duties in building the image of the government.
Adding further, Mr. Sharma said that it was ironical that the State’s Information and Public Relations Department under the leadership of S. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister In charge was the most affected out of the all. The Technical Staff of the department namely photographers, Cameramen, Tele-printer Operators and Artists were completely ignored. They have no further channel promotions and they were facing the stagnation and humiliation, said Mr. Sharma. It was a matter of grave concern that even a peon could become a Superintendent in the same Department where a fully technically qualified person remained the same even after putting in a hard labor of 24 hours a day. They were instrumental in making each and every function of the government a success not only at the district headquarters but also at the state headquarters.
Mr. Sharma made a fervent appeal to the government under the able stewardship of S. Parkash Singh Badal and S. Sukhbir Singh Badal to rectify the disparities among the pay scales of various categories, who have been ignored and give them the grade pay in accordance with the A, B, C, D classifications of the recommendations made by the 6th pay commission .
