SAD-BJP GOVERNMENT FULFILLED 80% OF POLL PROMISES – BADAL

AJNALA DECEMBER 5: Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today said that the SAD-BJP alliance government in the state has fulfilled 80% of the poll promises made to the people before last assembly elections and the remaining would also be implemented soon.
Addressing a mammoth public rally here at the local grain market, Mr. Badal said that owing to their commitment for the welfare of the people, their government had carried on unprecedented development works in the state due to which spectacular progress has been witnessed in the field of power, education, health and infra structure. He said that they were fully dedicated towards all round development of the state so that it could emerge as a number one state of the country. Apart from it Mr, Badal said that another major achievement of their government had been that it has ensured communal harmony and peace in this border state. He asked the people to support the SAD-BJP alliance in the coming polls so that the spree of development could be continued in the state.
Mr. Badal announced that the SAD-BJP government would extend the scheme of giving free bicycles to the girl students of class 9th and 10th of government schools under Mai Bhago Scheme from the next financial year on the pattern of the existing scheme for giving bicycles to the girl students of class 11th and 12th.
Coming down heavily on the Congress led UPA government of the Centre, the Chief Minister reiterated that it has always meted out discriminatory treatment with the state due to which the industry and the agriculture of the state has suffered adversely. He said that due to the concessions given by the Union government to the neighboring states for setting up of industrial units, the industry from Punjab had migrated to other states, which had proved to be a major set back for the state. Likewise Mr Badal said that due to exorbitant hike in the prices of the agricultural inputs the peasantry of the state is on the verge of economic disaster. The Chief Minister further said that owing to the wrong policies of the UPA government the food growers of Punjab are now on the brink of starvation. “Owing to heavy loans and anti-farmer policies of the Union government the position of the once affluent peasantry of the state has been reduced to that of mere beggars” he added.
Training his guns against the state Congress leadership for spiting venom on him and his family, the Chief Minister reiterated that he had always been a votary of morality in the public system but those people who believe in politics of vendetta are vitiating the political arena of the state by giving vicious statements. However he said that the wise voters of the state would not get swayed away with such tactics of the Congress leaders and they would be taught a befitting lesson by them in the coming polls. “People are well aware about the dubious and the hypocrite character of the entire state Congress leaders and they would send these leaders to political oblivion after the assembly polls’ he added.
Addressing the gathering President of the Youth Akali Dal and MLA Mr Bikram Singh Majithia slammed the entire Congress leadership for ignoring the interests of the state for their own vested interests. He said that rather than showing weapons to the brave people of Punjab in their rallies the Congress leaders should exhibit their bravery by raising the genuine demands of the state before the Congress high command and the Union government. Mr Majithia assailed the Congress leaders including state Congress President Capt. Amarinder Singh and Former Chief Minister Mrs Rajinder Kaur Bhattal for remaining mum on key issues concerning the state like inflation, corruption and unemployment. He dared these leaders to write letters to their own government at the centre and get these issues engulfing the youth of Punjab solved. The former Minister exhorted the people of the state to route out the Congress party from the political arena of the state so that era of unparalleled development ushered by SAD-BJP government in the state could be provided continuity.
The rally was also addressed by former Union Minister Mr Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, Lok Sabha MP’s Mr Navjot Singh Sidhu and Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala, Cabinet Minister Mr Ranjit Singh Brahampura and MLA Mr Amarpal Singh Bonny.
