RUN BY TAINTED MINISTERS, THE UPA GOVERNMENT HAS LOST THE MORAL RIGHT TO RULE THE COUNTRY- BADAL

Aliwal (Batala), December 10-Punjab Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal today said that the Congress led UPA government, which is being run by the tainted ministers, had virtually lost the moral right to remain in power.
Addressing a massive public rally of the Fatehgarh Churian assembly segment here today, the Chief Minister said that the UPA government was neck deep in corruption and the fresh allegations of corruption on the key ministers like that Home Affairs and the Foreign Affairs prove that every minister of the Union government had misused the power of his office. He said that such people who have brought a whopping loss to the public exchequer would be taught a befitting lesson by the country men. “The countrymen are fed up from the daily scams and scandals of this most corrupt government and they will route the Congress from political arena of state in coming polls” he added.
Continuing his attack on the Union government, the Chief Minister reiterated that Punjab has been always adversely affected when ever the Congress party had assumed power at the centre. He said that the successive Congress governments had meted out step motherly treatment with the state due to which the agriculture, industry and trade of state has been ruined. Mr Badal said that worst part was that owing to the anti-farmer policies of the Union government, the farmer of state who had played a pivotal role in providing food security to the country is now on verge on starvation. He said that though the SAD-BJP alliance government of the state had given relief to farmers by exempting them from Rs 3880 crore bill of power but on the other hand the Union government had increased their woes by indebting them under a loan of Rs 30,000 crore.
Making a scathing attack on Congress, the Chief Minister said that though the tyrannies of Mughals and Britishers in the pre independence period could be forgotten but the Punjabis in general and the Sikhs in particular could never forget the wounds inflicted by Congress to them by interfering in their social, political, economic and even the religious affairs. Mr Badal further said that people of the state could never forget that Congress had engineered attack on the holiest Shrine of Sikhs, Sri Darbar Sahib through Operation Blue Star and had killed many innocent people through the anti Sikh Carnage of 1984. He said that the terrific memoirs of both these incidents, which reminds of the tyranny and anti Punjab stance of this party, would remain live forever on the minds of people of the state. The Chief Minister also said that the Punjabis could never overlook that Congress was solely responsible for depriving the state from its capital and from its due share of the river waters.
The Chief Minister said that even today the Union government formulates the policies in such manner so that the state of Punjab should not get its benefit adding that the basic aim behind it is to derail the development of the state. Mr Badal further said that the policy of Union government to compensate the farmers, who had lost their crop due to some natural disaster, was also anti-farmer. He said that despite of their repeated appeals to the Prime Minister and the Union Ministers, the UPA government had not increased the compensation rendered to such farmers from Rs 1500 per acre even if 100% of its crop had been destroyed, which was sheer injustice with them. The Chief Minister said that the worst part was that the Congress which claimed itself to be votary of common man was ignoring them and much to their dismay was lavishly extending benefit the big MNCs at their cost.
Listing the achievements of the SAD-BJP alliance government in the state, the Chief Minister said that owing to their commitment for the welfare of public their government has carried on unprecedented development work in the state due to which spectacular progress has been witnessed in the field of power, education, health and infra structure. Likewise he said that their government has taken path breaking initiatives to ensure that welfare of the poor and downtrodden section of the society is ensured. He asked the people to support the SAD-BJP alliance in the coming polls so that the spree of development could be continued in the state.
Earlier talking to the newsmen, the Chief Minister advocated the enactment of a strong and powerful Lok Pal Bill to weed out the menace of corruption from the society. He said that SAD was always in favour of such Lok Pal which could stringently keep a check on corrupt practices in the nation. “I think that the Union government must enact a flawless Lok Pal bill so that people must be benefited from it” he added.
Prominent amongst those who addressed the rally included Cabinet Ministers Mr Sewa Singh Sekhwan and Captain Balbir Singh Bath, Speaker Punjab Assembly Mr Nirmal Singh Kahlon, MLA Mr Jagdish Raj Sawhney, Former Union Minister Mr Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, Chairman Punjab Tube Well Corporation Mr Ravikaran Singh Kahlon and Chairman Punjab Minority Commission Mr Munawar Masih.
