CM OKAYS PROPOSAL FOR INSTALLATION OF LIFT IN FATEH BURJ

CHANDIGARH December 12: The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of State Chief Secretary Mr. S.C. Agrawal to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of Virasat-e-Khalsa complex at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Chhota Ghalughara Martyrs’ Memorial at Kahnuwan Chamb (Gurdaspur), Wadda Ghalughara Martyrs’ Memorial at Kup Rohira (Sangrur) and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial at Chaparchiri (SAS Nagar).
    A decision to this effect was taken by Mr. Badal at a meeting held here at Chief Minister’s residence this morning.
    A committee headed by Chief Secretary would include; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. D.S. Guru, Mr. K.J.S. Cheema and Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu  both Special Principal Secretaries  to Chief Minister, CEO of Sri Anandpur Sahib Foundation Dr. Karamjit Singh Sra, Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur besides Director and Secretary of Tourism Department as members.
    The Chief Minister also finalized the modalities for the maintenance of these memorials through the concerned development authorities and financial resources for funding the upkeep of these memorials.
     Mr. Badal also gave nod to entrust the work of maintenance of Virasat-e-Khalsa Complex to Sri Anandpur Sahib Foundation, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial to GMADA, Wada Ghalughara Martyrs’ Memorial to Patiala Development Authority and Chhota Ghalughara Martyrs’ Memorial to PUDA.
    Taking part in the deliberations, the CEO of Sri Ananpur Sahib Foundation Dr. Sra apprised the Chief Minister that the work relating to the upkeep and maintenance of Virast-e-Khalsa Complex at Sri Anandpur Sahib had been allotted to A2Z company for three years, which would ensure its maintenance through a work force of  its 140 employees.
    Mr. Badal also gave approval to immediately release a sum of  Rs. 1 crore for the installation of lift in the Fateh Burj at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial at Chaparchiri (SAS Nagar) and this work had been allotted to the World renowned construction company Larsen & Tubro (L&T).
    Prominent amongst other who were present in the meeting included Media Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Harcharn Bains, Chief Secretary Mr. S.C. Agrawal, Mr. K.J.S Cheema, Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu  and Mr. Gagandeep Singh Brar (all Special Principal Secretaries  to Chief Minister), General Manager  North  L&T Mr. J.S. Gill, Mr. Ram Kumar and Mr. Saurav both senior officers of L&T, besides the concerned  Deputy Commissioners and senior officers of other departments.
