Bathinda/Mansa ,December 13:- The new District Jail Complex today has been inaugurated by Jails, Tourism & Cultural Affair Minister Punjab Mr. Hira Singh Gabbria. Inaugurating the Jail Complex the Minister said that the Punjab government has executed all the development project started by SAD-BJP government. He said that the construction of New Jail Complex was aimed at reducing the congestion and to provide better living conditions for the jail inmates. He said that Chief Minister Mr. Prakash Singh Badal during its Chief ministerial tenure 1977-78 got constructed modern Ludhiana Jail complex. He said that the Punjab Government during his present tenure constructed state-of-the-art six new jails premises with total 26 jails in the state.
He said that this new jail complex spreads across 21 acre and was constructed by Police Housing Corporation with the investment Rs. 13 Crore. Mr. Gabbria said that tha SAD-BJP Government made every effort to make the jail environment congenial so as the prisoners may mould their personalities and become the part of mainstream society. He said that Akali government has made the process of pre mature release easy whereas prisoners may get hassle free parole.
Prominent among others, who were present at the function included District & Sessions Judge Mr. H.P.S Mahal, CJM Mr. Budh Ram Garg, IG (Jails) Mr. Jagjit Singh, District Planning Committee Chairman Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Aulakh, Zila Prishad Chairman Mr. Dilraj Singh, Superintendent Jail Mr. Jagir Singh, S.E. PHC Engineer Mr. Ranjodh Singh, Superintendent Central Jail Patiala Captain Lakhminder Singh Jakhar.
