PAU organizes training camp on herbicide application

LUDHIANA, DECEMBER 14: The Directorate of Extension Education Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Syngenta India Ltd. (jointly) organized a training camp on
‘Herbicides application techniques on Wheat’  at village Dadwindi  in district Kapurthala. About 400 farmers participated in the training camp. Addressing to the farmers, Dr. M. S.Gill  Director of Extension Education, PAU asked the farmers  to be vigilant about incidence of insect-pests and diseases and take timely measures for their control.
He also launched a new university recommended herbicides "Axial" for the control of Phalaris minor with new nozzle for application. Dr.Surjit Singh Senior Extension Specialist  Agronomy informed the trainees about various spraying techniques.  He emphasized upon the use of flat fan & flood-jet nozzles for herbicides application. He
also gave live demonstration with various types of booms. Dr. Chander Mohan Senior Extension Specialist, PAU  elaborated on wheat diseases like Yellow rust /Karnal bunt & their  control with fungicides. Dr. J. S. Kular told the farmers about integrated pest management on different crops. Malwinder Singh Malhi, Manager Seed Care Syngenta
stressed on safe & judicious use of pesticides. Deputy Director KVK Dr Manoj Sharma , gave emphasis for increasing the dairy unit  and the use of mineral mixture in dairy ration.
