Chandigarh December 15- First Chandigarh State Gatka open Championship concluded at Guru Nanak Khalsa Sr. Sec. School, Sec-30-B, Chandigarh today on December 15. About 150 Gatkebaaz from various schools and Gatka Training Centers participated in this state championship organized by the Chandigarh Gatka Association (CGA). On second day Chief Guest Mr. D. K. Tiwari, IAS, MD CITCO and Secretary Sports and Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh asked the participants to involve in sports to keep their body fit and stay away from intoxicants. He also distributed prizes to the winners and assured full cooperation from the sports and culture department in promoting this traditional game. Eminent members of school Management, Principal, Staff and Students, Guests & Coaches from tricity witnessed this traditional martial sport. Gatkabaz displayed their physical strength, co-ordination, agility, balance and grace in form of drill demo with different Gatka skills. Demonstration of Gatka was the perfect example of artistic self-defensive moves and muscular strength. Gatka Federation of India General Secretary Harjeet Singh Grewal Deputy Director and CGA President Dr. Deep Singhalso spoke on the occasion. General Secretary Hardeep Singh Bittu presented vote of thanks.
