Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Non – Govt Colleges Managements Federation – Punjab and Chandigarh, Federation of Associations of College Principals – Punjab and Chandigarh, Punjab and Chandigarh Colleges Teachers Union (PCCTU) and Private College Non- Teaching Employees Union (PCNTEU) in a meeting held today decided to continue with their agitation. It was decided that agitation in its present form will continue till the decision of the Punjab Cabinet meeting schedule to be held on Dec 17 is known to them. The JAC decided that if Govt. of Punjab does not meet their demands on Dec. 17. They will be compelled to hold a March and rally at Bathinda on Dec. 23. The meeting was presided over by the President of JAC Sh. S.C. Sanwalka.
All these bodies have been jointing agitation for implementation of the SAD-BJP Cabinets decision on pension gratuity scheme dated Dec 12, 2001, revision of pay scales and allowances of non-teaching employees w.e.f 1/1/2006 on the basis of principle of parity, Lifting of the ban on recruitment imposed on July 27, 2005 and release of arrears of Pay scales. The meeting felt that the policies of the Govt. of Punjab have done a serious damage to the Non-Govt. Colleges which have played the most important role in the field of education of Punjab. The meeting pointed out that while all the adjoining states have lifted the ban on recruitment the continued ban in Punjab has burdened the students.
