‘NEW CHANDIGARH’ GETS A KICK START AS SUKHBIR LAYS THE FOUNDATION STONE OF CRITICAL RS. 325 CRORES CHANDIGARH- SISWAN ROAD

Chandigarh, December 16: The New Chandigarh Mega City project today got a kick start with Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal laying the foundation stone of Rs. 325 crore Chandigarh-Siswan road, that besides shortening the distance to Baddi in Himachal Pradesh would emerges critical road for the evolving this new city.
          Addressing a rally after laying the foundation stone, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the new Chandigarh would provide quality housing besides developing world class institutional area including IT City, MediCity and world class aviation maintenance and training institute. He said that the New Chandigarh City was all set to propel the overall development of this area thereby making it a worth living place near Chandigarh with world class infrastructure. He said that this 200 feet wide Chandigarh to Siswan T-junction road (8 Kms.) would be constructed 6 lane in first phase and would have three 8 lane bridges. He said that this project has been undertaken by the Omaxe Infrastructure and Construction Ltd., a world renowned infrastructure development company and it would be completed by next 16th months.
          Earlier after laying the foundation stone of Rs. 2.5 crore 66 KVA Grid Station at Village Seonk, the Deputy Chief Minister addressed a rally at Mullanpur Garibdas and announced 100 per cent drinking water and sewerage coverage of this historical town and assured to upgrade its total infrastructure at par with SAS Nagar city.
Reiterating the SAD-BJP government’s commitment to upgrade the total civic infrastructure in all major cities and towns, Mr. Badal pointed out that thousands of crores rupees were being spent on ensuring 100% coverage of safe drinking water and sewerage besides constructing quality roads and street lights. He said that Punjab has witnessed development and growth on every front during last five years including 6669 crore investment in road sector, Rs 420 crore on construction of 42 ROBs and flyovers, Rs 19000 crore Bathinda Refinery giving employment to 37,000 youth, Rs 3715 crore on improvement of irrigation network, Rs 418 crore relining of minors and the previous regime of congress led by Captain Amarinder Singh has nil report to showcase. He said that against recruitment of few hundred those too contractual temporary employees, our government has recruited 1.17 lakh out of which 70,000 and 20,000 were alone in education and police departments respectively. He said that the recruitment during SAD-BJP government was online, totally on merit and done in a most transparent way.
   Appreciating the services of local MLA Mr. Ujjagar Singh Badali for making concerted efforts for the development of the area, the Deputy Chief Minister handed over him a cheque of Rs. 1.60 crore for the various development works of Kurali city.
Mr. Badal expressed confidence that the people of state were wise enough to continue the pace of development by giving their repeat mandate to the SAD-BJP combine and promised to make Punjab the best state in the country.
