Teachers block the Bhandari Bridge in Amritsar, City disturbed

State level Rally will be held at Bathinda on 23rd December, MP Constituency of Harsimrat kaur Badal- Prof. Sekhon

As per the direction of Joint action committee of non-Govt. added colleges in Punjab, it is the 5th day of education bundh in Punjab in support of his demands, but still govt. is adamant regarding the talks with office bearers of the JAC. In this connection, the distt. Council of PCCTU under the distt. President Prof. Gurdas Singh Sekhon organized a Rally at DAV College Amritsar in which teachers and non-teaching staff from  various college of distt. Including DAV College, BBK DAV College, Khalsa College, Khalsa College of Education, Khalsa college for women, DAV college of Education, Hindu College and Sehzada Nand College Amritsar participated in a large number.

While addressing the Rally  Prof. Sekhon said that their demands are genuine but the Punjab government attitude towards our demands is totally negative as a result they are forced to do agitation. He said that we believe that agitation may cause loss to the nation but there is no other way to knock the door of Govt. while talking to their demands he said Implementation of Pension Gratuity, Lifting ban on recruitments, releasing Arrears of new pay scale, service security for the uncovered staff working in Non-Govt colleges, relaxation of Refresher courses as per UGC directions and fixation of pay for the non-teaching staff with effect from 1st January 2006 as per the parity with other Punjab Govt.employees.

After the rally they moved  from DAV College to Bhandari Bridge while raising slogans against Punjab Govt. They blocked the traffic on Bhandari Bridge which caused a big problem for the people.They created a human chain to block the traffic in which lady teachers were participating with full strength. Addressing the dharna at bhandari bridge,prof. Walia said that it is in the hands of Govt. to talk with office bears of JAC to resolve the issue immediately other wise it will cause a great loss to the Akali-BJP govt. in the coming election.

Prof. Sekhon said that a state level rally will be held at Bathinda, PM constituency of Sardarni Harsimrat Kaur Badal and they will educate the people of the area that how the Badal family is not bothering about the interest of the state.Talking to correspondent Prof SEKHON cleared that the struggle will continue till the demands are not accepted. He also told that it is not the teachers and non-teaching staff only but Principal Federation and Management Federation also participating in this agitation because most of the Non-Government colleges of Punjab are under the severe crisis which needs more help from Government and it is to be noted here that Non-Govt. colleges providing education to the tune of 80% of higher education in Punjab. Prof.Gurjeet singh Sidhu, Prof. Randhawa and Mr.Rajeev Sharma also addressed the rally.
