Chandigarh, December 19:Punjab Education Minister Mr. Sewa Singh Sekhwan today approved the record number of 4342 promotions varying from Master cadre to lecturer, Lecturer to Principal and Master cadre to Head Master after they were duly cleared by the different departmental promotion committees constituted for this purpose, continuing the commitment to bring more efficiency in the working of Education Department especially in the field.
Disclosing this here today Mr. Sekhwan informed that to check the stagnation in teaching staff, 3822 from Master Cadre including Science, Math and Social Studies Masters have been promoted as Lecturers after their cases were found fit for promotion by the DPC. Similarly, 208 Lecturers and 312 from Master Cadre have been promoted as Principals and Head Masters respectively. He said that another DPC meeting was being called in day or two to clear the cases for 463 promotions of Principals from Head Masters. The Minister categorically said that the newly promoted lecturers, Head Masters and Principals would be allotted their new places of postings in coming days.
He said that the State Education Department had already promoted and posted 842 Head Masters from Master Cadre and 252 Principals from lecturers. The Minister pointed out that with these promotions a new record of promotions had already been created as within last three months 5901 promotions have been done. Reiterating his commitment to make Punjab as number one state on Education front in the country, The Minister revealed that the present SAD-BJP Government in the State had already recruited more than 71000 teachers that too by ensuring total transparency and merit. He appealed the newly promoted ones to work diligently and with commitment to shape the destiny of younger generations.
