TWO DAY TRAINING ON E-GOVERNANCE CONCLUDES
Chandigarh, December 20: Information Technology can be used as a vehicle for improved governance and service delivery to the citizens.
This view emerged in two day training on e-Governance Project Lifecycle (eGLC) under the Specialized Training on e-Governance Program (STeP) that concluded today. The participants comprised of policy and execution levels officials from various departments of Government of Punjab.
The said program has been conducted under the ageis of the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), Hyderabad. NISG, in coordination with the Department of Information Technology, is taking up various initiatives of Capacity Building on behalf of Department of Information Technology, Government of Punjab.
Mr. Piyush Gupta, Sr. General Manager, NISG conducted the program and the need-based training in the field of eGovernance. Prof. Subhash Bhatnagar, former Professor at IIM-Ahmedabad and Advisor to NISG, discussed at length regarding e-Governance and the need for implementation of the same in creating a transparent Government procedure, thereby catering to the citizen-centric needs of the state in a better way. The Speaker faculty for the program comprised of eminent experts in the domain such as Mr. R. Sumanthra, Technical Advisor, Department of Information Technology, Government of Haryana.
The Department hopes to conduct further trainings under the subject, to increase the awareness on e-Governance amongst the State officials.
