Establish Herbarium in Amritsar – INTACH

Amritsar, 21 December – Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) organized a lecture regarding Need of Herbarium in Amritsar at S.L. Bhawan’s School. Amrit Lal Mannan coordinator of school heritage clubs told Er. Prabhdhyal Singh Randhawa was the main speaker of this lecture. Mr. Randhawa said that many species of plants and herbs are becoming extinct. It is the need of the time to think about establishing a herbarium in Amritsar so that well maintained record of herbs and plants may be kept. By keeping the record of each plant we come to know about its different characteristics. Whether it is useful or harmful for humans. INTACH State Convener Dr. Sukhdev Singh and Principal Anita Bhalla presided over the function. At this occasion a Poems  recitation competition based on poems of Bhai Veer Singh, Dhani Ram Chatric and Amrita Preetam was also organized. Mansi Sharma (S.L. Bhawan’s School) stood first, Arshi (Police D.A.V. Public School), Rimalpreet Kaur (Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School) stood second, Prabhmannat Singh  (Spring Dale School) and Chamanpreet Kaur (Ram Ashram Public School stood third in this competition. Prof. Joginder Singh Jogi acted as a judge for this competition. He also recited his poem ‘Aj Akhan Manmohan Singh nu’. Mr. Mannan also recited his Poems ‘Punjaban I and Punjaban II’ which were well received by the students. School Staff Members and students attended the function.
