Amritsar, December 28, 2011: Daljit Kaur, the BA second year student of Khalsa College for Women (KCW) has won gold medal in the recently concluded Senior National Boxing Championship, Pondicherry. She won the medal by defeating India’s top boxer, Sarita Devi in the semifinal. She defeated her with 18-23 in the fierce fight of the contests. Daljit on reaching here was received by College Principal, Dr. Sukhbir Kaur Mahal who congratulated her for her achievement.
Dr. Mahal thanked her coach Baljinder Singh, Sports Wing Incharge, Tajinder Kaur and District Sports Officer, Sukhbir Kaur Johal for their contributions to make the budding boxer Daljit, a champion at the national level. Daljit Kaur said she was happy over her performance and was now working hard for the upcoming Inter-University championship to be held in January. She said after this, she would be preparing for the National Boxing Camp to be held at Bhopal (MP) and would represent India in the next world sports events including Asian and Olympics.
