Joy ride’ in helicopter organized for Special Children

Shimla, 29 December : Joy of 26 Special children of Deaf, Dumb and Blind School, Dhalli, Shimla knew no bounds when they boarded the ‘Joy ride’ organized on the directions of Chief Minister, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal.
The first of the two flights took off at 9 am. The children were treated to an aerial view of Shimla town at a height of 7,000 feet. The special children were too excited to undertake this aerial journey and so were the two pilots, Shri Matthew and Shri Malik. Chief Minister said that the State Government had given priority to social sector with emphasis on such vulnerable section of the society.
Social Justice and Empowerment Department is organizing such sports and other outdoor activities for the special children. It was for the first time that a step towards boosting the morale of special children had been taken by providing them an opportunity to under take this aerial journey, according to a senior officer of the Department.
Shri Vinay Sharma, Principal of the School, Shri Dharmender Thakur, Shri Leela Chandel, who accompanied the children said that this effort of the state government was laudable.
