Panjab University’s in-house community radio station 91.2 Jyotirgamaya is all set to go live for 72 hours at 11 am on 30th December, 2011, with the blessings of the Vice Chancellor Prof. RC Sobti. The three-day long radio marathon is an initiative of 8 students of School of Communication Studies who have decided to give up their new year celebrations for the purpose of community service.
The objective of the show is to present a critical view of the life of a common man, bring forth the problems he goes through and provide the solutions thereof through expert opinions and suggestions. “The preparations are on full swing. All the experts from health, psychology, security, education and information and entertainment have been scheduled for Live interviews that will go on air during the 3 Day marathon. We are running Live trial shows today already” says one of the producers of the 72 hour live show, Divya Gurnay.
The Live trial run went on air at 1pm with RJ Shweta’s Music ka funda which featured two students of Economics department-Tanvi Kashyap and Shivani. “When I came to know about 72 hour live show, I was very excited to give my voice for community entertainment. I think it’s a big leap that 91.2 Jyotirgamaya is taking and I wish it all the luck.” says Tanvi. “Jyotirgamaya has provided us a platform to give wings to our passion in music and it feels great to mingle passion with community service” said Shivani. Following this RJ Neha and Varun took over and talked about various aspects of entertainment and industry. The trial run is scheduled till late evening.
The 72 hour live show will commence with the story of a fictional character Jaspreet who is a representative of a common man. All aspects of his life will be touched upon and talked during these three days. “We will talk about issues related to health, family, relationships, work, personal and social aspirations, hopes, resolves and expectations of a common man through Jaspreet. The problems of his life will be discussed in a general perspective and solutions will be provided through expert interviews” revealed Nupur Malhotra, Co- Producer and media advisor of the shows.
